Fill up on breakfast at your hotel in Cusco before walking to the Cusco Cathedral where your guide will meet the group for your walking tour of Cusco's colonial side. See the colonial and Inca architecture visible throughout the city and visit the Sapantiana staircase waterfall aqueduct before having lunch near the main plaza. Afterwards, walk back to the hotel and enjoy free time for the rest of the evening

Day 7 Cusco/Ollantaytambo

Enjoy a full-day guided tour of the Sacred Valley. Stop at the G Adventures-supported women's weaving co-op before visiting a local pottery making community. Break for lunch at the G Adventures-supported Parwa Community Restaurant in Huchuy Qosco. After lunch, opt to head out on a hike to the Ollantaytambo storehouses and look out over the ruins. Or, wander around the cobblestone streets and visit a local Chicheria (corn beer bar)

Day 8 Ollantaytambo

Enjoy the Sacred Valley with your G representative today. Explore the sites of the Maras Salt Mines and the ancient Incan agricultural terraces of Moray. Continue on a scenic drive through small villages and stunning views of the Andean countryside. Then visit the Chincheros ruins. Known to the Incas as the birthplace of the rainbow, this site offers stunning views of the Andean countryside. Return to Ollantaytambo for the evening

Day 9 Ollantaytambo/Aguas Calientes

After breakfast visit the Ollantaytambo ruins where you'll walk up the 200 stone steps to reach the top. Then, catch the scenic train to Aguas Calientes. After enjoying a quick orientation walk around the town of Aguas Calientes the group will have free time for optional activities. Opt to visit the Machu Picchu Museum, the Mandor Waterfalls, and the butterfly garden. Or consider taking a dip in some thermal baths to relax those muscles

Day 10 Machu Picchu/Cusco

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Lima

Beachte bitte: Das Culinary Bundle beinhaltet keinen zusätzlichen Aufenthalt in Lima und wir empfehlen dir dringend, auch eine Übernachtung vor Beginn der Reise zu buchen. Du wirst um ca. 10 Uhr von deinem Hotel abgeholt und zu einem lokalen Markt und zu einem Restaurant gebracht, wo du ein traditionelles peruanisches Essen kochst und dir dann natürlich auch schmecken lässt. Rückkehr ins Hotel gegen 13 Uhr.

Warmwasser und Strom können in Peru öfter mal ausfallen (selbst in besseren Hotels und Privathaushalten). Wir bitten um Verständnis, dass wir darauf keinen Einfluss haben

Day 2 Lima/Puno

Flug nach Juliaca. Anschließend kurze Busfahrt nach Puno am Ufer des Titicaca-Sees. Der Titicaca-See ist auch der größte See der Welt über 2.000 m und die Aussicht von seinen Inseln ist atemberaubend. Visitors arriving in Puno will likely feel the effects of the 3,827m altitude. Symptoms include shortness of breath, headaches, general lethargy, and a reduced appetite. This is no cause for alarm; it is simply your body’s way of coping with the altitude. It may take a little time to acclimatize, but before long you probably will not even notice it. Take it easy for the first day or two, and reduce alcohol and cigarette consumption to minimize the effects. Be sure to drink plenty of water and do not attempt too much in any given day

Day 3 Puno/Lago Titicaca

Fahrt mit dem Boot über den Titicaca-See. Bei einem Besuch in einem Dorf auf der Insel Taquile lässt du dir bei atemberaubender Aussicht ein lokales Mittagessen schmecken.

Anschließend geht es mit dem Boot zu einem anderen Dorf (das je nach Verfügbarkeit der jeweiligen Gemeinde variieren kann), wo du bei einer Gastfamilie am Ufer des Sees übernachtest. Diese Erfahrung gibt dir die Gelegenheit, mehr über das ländliche Leben im peruanischen Hochland zu erfahren und an lokalen Traditionen teilzunehmen. Iss gemeinsam mit der Familie, verbessere deine Quechua- und Spanischkenntnisse, probiere die örtliche Tracht an und hilf bei den alltäglichen Aufgaben im Dorf.

Day 4 Lago Titicaca/Puno

Wir verlassen die Gastfamilien am späten Vormittag und statten auf dem Rückweg nach Puno den Islas Uros einen Besuch ab. Eine beliebte optionale Aktivität in Puno ist ein Besuch der spektakulären Chullpas (Turmbauten, die als Grabstätten dienen) von Sillustani, eine archäologische Prä-Inka-Stätte, die nur eine kurze Fahrt entfernt liegt.

Day 5 Puno/Cusco

Die Fahrt von Puno nach Cusco macht den größten Teil des Tages aus. Unterwegs kannst du eindrucksvolle, wunderschöne Landschaft bewundern, während du durch die Altiplano-Hochebene reist. Unternimm eine kleine Erkundungstour durch Cusco, suche dir einen Ort zum Abendessen oder bereite dich auf die Wanderung im Heiligen Tal vor.

Day 7 Cusco/Ollantaytambo

Travel through the stunning Sacred Valley of the Incas, visiting a G Adventures-supported women's weaving co-op. Meet the women and learn about traditional weaving and dyeing. Opt to pick up some handmade souvenirs and textiles directly from the women who made them.

Have lunch at the G Adventures-supported Parwa Community Restaurant. Learn about the G Adventures for Good project and eat a delicious buffet-style lunch. Proceeds of this meal go directly back to the remote community.

Day 10 Machu Picchu/Cusco

Hüpfe früh aus den Federn, um gemeinsam mit dem Guide den ersten Bus nach Machu Picchu zu nehmen. Nimm an einer Führung durch die Ruinen teil, bevor du Zeit zur freien Verfügung hast, um den Ort auf eigene Faust zu erkunden. Danach geht es mit dem Bus wieder hinunter nach Aguas Calientes, wo du auf den Rest der Gruppe triffst und einen Zug zurück nach Cusco nimmst.

Day 11 Cusco

Wenn du das „Culinary Theme Pack“ gebucht hast, wirst du um ca. 12:30 Uhr von deinem Hotel abgeholt und zu einem lokalen Markt und Restaurant gebracht, wo du ein traditionelles peruanisches Essen kochst und dir dann natürlich auch schmecken lässt. Rückkehr ins Hotel gegen 16 Uhr

Day 12 Cusco/Tambopata

Flug nach Puerto Maldonado, das im Tropenwald des Amazonastieflands liegt.

Nach einem kurzen Zwischenstopp in der Stadt zur Aufbewahrung von größerem Gepäck geht es weiter zum Pier und anschließend mit einem überdachten Motorboot zur Dschungel-Lodge. Unterwegs kannst du für das lokale Flussufer und den Waldrand typische Vogelarten beobachten. Der Tambopata-Regenwald hält den Weltrekord für die meisten Vogelsichtungen in einer Region.

Die meisten Mitarbeiter der Lodge stammen aus der örtlichen Gemeinde. Hierzu gehören auch mehrsprachige Naturführer. Nutze die Gelegenheit, dich über die üppige Flora und Fauna der Region zu informieren. Außerdem kannst du auch etwas darüber erfahren, auf welch vielfältige Art und Weise die Einheimischen verschiedene Heilpflanzen und andere Pflanzenressourcen des Waldes unter Anwendung traditioneller Verfahren zum Bauen, Angeln und Jagen nutzen. Die Lodge selbst vereint lokale Baukunst und Materialien mit moderner, umweltfreundlicher Technik. Die Zimmer sind schlicht, aber komfortabel. Es gibt Moskitonetze für die einzelnen Betten, WCs, Duschen (mit Warmwasser dank Solarenergie) und Kerzen (es gibt hier keinen Strom)

Day 13 Tambopata

Wir brechen früh auf, um den Dschungel zu seiner wildesten (und kühlsten) Zeit zu erkunden. Spaziere langsam durch den Wald und versuche Wildtiere zu erspähen, bevor wir mit dem Kanu auf einen Altarmsee hinausfahren. Halte Ausschau nach Anakondas, schwer zu erkennenden Riesenottern oder Mohrenkaimanen. Selbst wenn du keine dieser scheuen Kreaturen zu Gesicht bekommst, gibt es unzählige andere Vögel, interessante Pflanzen und weitere Tiere zu sehen.

Day 14 Tambopata/Lima

Lass dir ein köstliches amazonisches Frühstück schmecken, bevor es mit dem Motorboot und dem Minibus zurück zum Flughafen geht. Flug nach Lima. Optional kannst du zum letzten Mal ausgehen, um ein Abendessen oder einen Pisco-Sour-Cocktail zu genießen.
